Hola Barcelona May 24 2013 Our Sixth Day

Today we were off to the town of Figueres to see Dali's museum.

The train was from another train station, but it had a connection at a nearby metro stop that we often transfer on. With a few questions here and there, we had our tickets in hand. While there is a high speed train to Figueres, it has very few runs. The two more regional trains are your best bet. And of the two, the slightly faster one, while a few Euros more, is very comfortable.

As we got nearer, we could see the white capped mountains of the Pyrenees. The moutain range is beautiful. It also struck me that our car was quite empty with a few locals and not a single tourist. I knew that most museums were closed on Mondays, but I did not check to see if the Dali Museum might be closed on Fridays.

But when we disembarked, we were relieved to see tourists exiting other cars.

Hera loves Dali. I like some of Dali, and much I am not overly fond of.

The museum is billed as one of the must see museums of Europe. And while it is enjoyable, and Hera loved it, I left much less impressed.

I was happy I had seen it, but unlike many other museums that I would revisit any day, this is one I can skip in the future.

We ended up in a little local restaurant, and ordered some drinks and one of their seafood Paellas. It hit the spot just perfectly, and we ordered another round of drinks.

The train ride home was uneventful, but instead of taking the metro home, we decided to walk home. We passed by a few fashion stores that we walked into. By the time we were the market near home it was close to 8pm. We were very surprised that the market was still open.

Shop keepers had started to close up, but we zipped in, picked up some vegetables and picked up a mackerel that was expertly filleted for us. She gave us the caviar as well. We at first said we did not need it, but then asked how it was prepared. Simply breaded and fried, so we took it back to try.

Hera made a delicisious mackerel dish, along with basmati rice with sun dried tomatoes, and a fresh salad. The fried caviar had a very pleasant mild flavor. Something I will most defintely want again.

We have yet to plan tomorrow, but after two day trips in a row, we will probably do something around town. No rush to decide. After all, we are on vacation.
